Gavin Crombie

Founder and now Executive Chairman of IDFGlobal, Gavin has lived in China for almost 17 years in Chengdu. Author of a bestselling book on doing business in China, Gavin founded IDFGlobal with his wife Xiaomei in 1999 with a staff of two. Known for his fondness for a glass of red and eating meat pies Gavin has a simply philosophy – “The world is not interested in the storms you encountered: Did you bring in the ship?”

Xiaomei Liu

Certainly the more attractive of the founders of IDFGlobal, Xiaomei – (pronounced SShi – ow May) is in charge of whipping the employees and getting the very best out them. Xiaomei has a dedication to detail and as Production Director solves all the issues of running a production team with more than 350 employees. Being married to Gavin Crombie there are suggestions that she is really the boss – but let’s not go there. By the way the name Xiaomei means “Dawnlight Plum Blossom”.

Haidong Liu

Shareholder and Director Haidong is responsible for the day-today management of the IDFGlobal Studios and modelshop. Irascible and sometimes grumpy, Haidong is the best man-manager the world has ever seen, and in truly illimitable style can out ‘gan-bei’ the best of them. He also has really cute dimples.

Jean Sebastien Laurenson

Jean (and that’s the French Jean - not the girls name) is a bundle of nervous energy and a master of dancing. Recently appointed CEO Jean has been in a number of roles in IDFGlobal ranging from Project Management to Sales Director. Jeans highly successful development of the IDFGlobal UAE office brought him into Head Office as Sales Director. Jean’s energy and focus is bringing new momentum to the CEO’s position.

He also holds the distinction for being the only non-paying guest on the private beach at the Emirates Palace Hotel after a very long swim.

Jacek Irzykowski

With an almost unpronounceable name and the opposite of hirsute, Jacek is the Director of in charge of Quality Control. A famous artist in his own right Jacek has brought a whole new perspective to IDFGlobal and has the team creating award winning images and animations on a regular basis. Known for a suave and totally disarming manner (with the female persuasion) he holds several records unconnected with visualization.

Rajeev Mittal

Rajeev is the oldest member of the IDFGlobal team apart from the founders. Rajeev, who is too fond of cream cakes is the Man in Charge of the Australasia region and sits on the Board of Directors. A truly decent human being unless you owe him money or steal his cream cakes, Rajeev brings an energy and level of experience to the company that is very beneficial.

Guy Costley

Counting the UK operation as his bailiwick, this Guy was for many years a successful and talented perspective artist. Known for large orders and tight deadlines, Guy has been involved in some of the biggest projects IDFGlobal have ever done – vis-a- vis Yas Island/Ferrari Experience in Abu Dhabi, which set a new sales record for one job.

James Crombie

Irrepressible and the No. 1 Project Manager in IDFGlobal, James is working his way up the corporate ladder after years of making the boss’s coffee. 10 years of dealing with architects and developers has left him battle hardened and ready for anything that can be thrown at him – unless it corresponds with a hangover. James deals with clients from all over the globe and can often be seen pulling tufts of hair from his meager supply when deadlines mysteriously move.

Michael Abbott

As a 30 year veteran of the Architectural Visualization profession, Michael has taken on the task of exposing IDFGlobal to the US. Michaelʼs understanding of the US market, along with his experience, clientele, and contacts, makes him a natural for being Head of US Sales and New Business Development for IDFGlobal. With Michaelʼs studio a stones throw from a number of famous surf spots, we wonder if the numerous “board meetings” he attends are in an office, or in the Pacific Ocean.

Sunil Kumar

Sunil (not to be confused with the famous batsman) is the man with the beaming smile in Western Australia. With a personality that is known to be irrepressible and totally optimistic, Sunil coined the phrase ‘Survive and Prosper’ for the company’s strategy of getting through the downturn. Admittedly this was after he agreed to drink a whole glass of wine at the annual meeting dinner unbeknownst to him that it held 750mls. Sunil comes from an IT background and has set the Perth market afire with his activities.

Andrew Poole

With a Chinese nickname of ‘You Yong Chi’ Andy is an irrepressible, energetic character who speaks read and writes Chinese fluently. Formerly making the bosses coffee Andy proved that he should be throwing that energy and smile into making clients happy and is now one of the key members of the global sales team. Hailing from Melbourne Andy can also speak Australian – we are just not sure of his English. By the way – his nickname translates as Swimming Pool and brings hoots of laughter from the local clients.

Dries van de Wal

Good things come in small packages and they don’t come any better than Dries. Fully engaged with the industry Dries has a magical way of looking after clients needs and making sure the team provides that extra bit of attention. Hailing originally from Holland we are assured Dries is not about to open a coffee shop in Chengdu.

Zhang Yi

Zhang Yi has previously lived abroad for almost 10 years during which time he graduated from the University of Westminster, London, majoring in TV and Film Production. His work experience has involved working in News Corporation, STAR Channel [V] in Shanghai, as the new media contents creator. He then joined the ITV and Dragon Page Media Company where he worked for over two years in London. After studying at USC, LA and then returning to Chengdu, he worked as an assistant director in Gwantsi Shanghai; one of the top TV production companies in China. This year, Yi Zhang joined IDF/Greenleaf, as a young and enthusiastic in-house director.

Rainy Liu

with a personality anything but ‘rainy’ – Rainy holds an MBA from the University of Liverpool – where she developed an ‘interesting’ accent and support for a certain football team. Sitting atop the IDFGlobal Marketing Department, Rainy is exactly what the sales team need to keep them working hard and in good order – and has been known to ‘rain on their parade’ when they get too cheeky.

Jordan Zhou

Multi-talented and multi-tasking is Jordan’s speciality – fully experienced in the digital media industry in several different areas Jordan is the oil that makes the wheels go round in lots of different areas of IDFGlobal – not least of which are marketing and web development. Full conversant in around 10 different computer languages Jordan can often be found talking to his dearly beloved PC.
